“Magazine Worthy Photos” on The Brides Cafe

Check out The Brides Cafe blog today for an article I wrote on tips for getting your wedding published in a magazine. If you are planning your wedding, this blog is a definite “not to miss” for planning advice. I was so impressed with the amazing talent that Janie Medley is featuring on her blog every single day. The other day she had an interview with Jung Lee of Fete on her book that was just released. So many of the most talented wedding professionals are featured daily. I’m delighted to be include in the mix. My suggestion is to subscribe to The Brides Cafe for your daily fix of cutting edge wedding ideas.

Allison + Michael 01.05.08

One of the challenges of winter weddings can be finding the time and locations for outdoor portraits. Some of my couples, like Allison and Michael what the romantic notion of not seeing each other prior to their ceremony, yet they still want fun location portraits. We were limited to about 15 minutes of daylight after their ceremony at Saint James Church in Basking Ridge, NJ, so we ran around to the back parking lot of their church and found a field of reeds. What luck! I also used the beautiful green door of their church as a backdrop for a portrait just before the sun set. On the way to their reception at The Westin Governor Morris in Morristown, NJ we also stopped by the historic Morristown Train Station for some really romantic images. I know I’m dating myself, but the station was featured in Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time video.

Pleasantdale Château Wedding – Jennifer + Nick 12.31.07

Happy New Year! I love photographing New Years Eve weddings, they are so festive. I usually photograph a wedding every New Years Eve and this year was no exception. The Pleasantdale Château in West Orange, NJ was a perfect setting to ring in 2008. Jennifer and Nick were such a beautiful and creative couple who were not only partners in life but also in business. Together, they own a really trendy sneaker boutique in NYC called Classic Kicks. I fell in love with a pair of fur lined sneakers that Jennifer wore (though not at the wedding). The wedding was anything but casual with a stellar candle lit ceremony. The bride wore a one of a kind gown by Lazaro from Kleinfeld Bridal in NYC. At the stroke of midnight, pyrotechnics streamed from the floral centerpieces ringing in a very happy and loving 2008.
