The last time I photographed a wedding at the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul was during the Philadelphia Blizzard of ’09. Danielle and Michaels wedding was under much better circumstances. This Cathedral is just so perfect for art photography. The lighting, the colors and the gold rotunda! I was so happy to be back.
I knew I would be in for a treat when Danielle sent me her wedding invitation printed on an antique handkerchief! It came complete with vintage postcards of Philadelphia! I always love being surprised with something so different. You can bring your invitation and use it if you should shed a tear! These adorable invitations were designed by Philadelphia stationers, Bird and Banner! Danielle prepared for her day at The Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia. What a special suite she had. The corner suite had a view of Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul where she would be married and The Franklin Institute, where her reception would follow. She paired her very high fashion J. Mendel gown with an edgy pair of Elizabeth and James wedding shoes. Dad and brothers visited Danielle in her room prior to walking across the street to her ceremony!
Last week I was asked by Beautiful Blooms Events to photograph a bouquet for the online magazine Around Mainline. It turns out the creative staff at Beautiful Blooms Events wanted to pay homage to Kate Middleton’s wedding bouquet. Well, you know all things beautiful makes my heart sing and this lily-of-the-valley beauty had my eyes singing an aria! Is this ever gorgeous!!!! On the subject of the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I just adored Kate’s Grace Kelly inspired wedding gown. I guess Kate is a fan just like me! The style has always been one of my favorites. I hope it brings back lace sleeves, especially for those winter weddings! I think we will be seeing more of this style in 2012. I see that Monique Lhuillier has added this beautiful Grace Kelly inspired gown to her Spring 2012 collection. I want to photograph this beautiful classic gown. Well, I just couldn’t wait. Last Saturday I was back at Rats Restaurant on the Ground for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. I used to photograph weddings there all the time. It’s a most magical location and for several years they stopped offering weddings at this extraordinary venue. Now Stephen Starr Events has brought back Rat’s and I was just thrilled to be back. I’ll have images to share early next week, but for now, here is a sneak peek!
Since John popped the question to Catherine in Center city Philadelphia the couple knew there was no other location they wanted to take some engagement portraits. The couple will be celebrating their wedding at the beautiful Union League in Philadelphia later this fall.
