Winterthur Wedding of Nicole + Evan – 05.28.11 Part 2

A outdoor wedding at Winterthur Estate is Magic and Nicole and Evan certainly had the weather for it. Perfect Spring weather…. sunny skies yet not too warm. The guests seemed to enjoy the cocktail hour around the reflecting pool.  Beautiful Blooms Events did a beautiful job with all the flowers and decor of the day. I particularly loved the humorous little signs placed around the cocktail hour. Nicole and Evan have been dating for around 10 years, hence Nicole had the cute little sign made “It’s about time!” undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Something Old, Something New….. Film Wedding Photography

As some of you may, or may not know, I’ve been photographing weddings since 1999.  Back then I was a film wedding photographer. I adored film and used a combination of medium format and 35mm and a combination of B&W and color films. I brought an entire camera store to my weddings. I really never wanted to stop shooting film and entered the digital world kicking and screaming. As digital became more popular my labs became less proficient at printing my work and there came a point when my digital work produced a better quality than film. Sadly, in 2005 I retired all my film cameras and have photographed my weddings using all digital.  I sold all my 35mm cameras but I never had the heart to sell my medium format Contax 645.  The poor thing has been sitting in my closet since 2005.  In recent years a new thing has been happening. It seems that all the photographers I admire are shooting film, using the Contax 645 and live in California. Though I can’t move to California, I realized that it was time to dust off my Contax and see where it takes me artistically. These California photographers have labs out there that are doing an amazing job at printing film again. I’ve been working with Richard Photo Lab in Los Angeles. It’s a fun process and I’m excited about where it’s going to take me. Presently, I’m bringing my Contax to weddings and editorial shoots and shooting a few rolls. I plan to share my journey into film on the blog. Below and a few of my first film images that I shot at Nicole and Evans wedding. Can you see a difference? undefinedundefined

Winterthur Wedding of Nicole + Evan – 05.28.11

My heart had a little flutter when I saw Nicole’s sparkly  pair of Enzo Angiolini shoes with the gold heals.  And paired with a very classic Angolique gown, Nicole was just perfect! After preparing for her big day at the Hotel DuPont we were off to the fabulous grounds of Winterthur Estate.  A former DuPont Estate, it not serves as a museum and a most gorgeous setting for a wedding.  Nicole and Evan had their first see on the stairs leading to the garden. All the azaleas were in full bloom adding to the beautiful of the day. Beautiful Blooms designed the lovely bouquets. Please note the final image in the series.  I always thought it would be cute to have a pictures of the entire bridal party kissing. Well, in all my years, I finally got it. It turns out Nicole and Evans bridal party consisted of two married couples. How cute. More to share later!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
